This blog is for the Wieuca Road Baptist Church J.E.P.R. (Justice, Ethics and Public Responsibility) Council & friends. We are a group of laity and clergy who seek to enable the church to tackle tough issues of our society such as poverty, hunger, racism, environmental destruction, and war. We hope to encourage healing, unity, diversity, and peace-making for all God's creation.

Here's another interesting response on the Sojourner's Blog by Diana Butler Bass:

As some of you may know, David Kuo, the author and reader of this short article is a story in his own right. As second-in-command for the faith-based community initiatives program of the current administration, he came in as a right-leaning eager evangelical. His dismay with the way the program and the evangelical community was used (and mis-used) is described in his recent book, published after resigning in moderate frustration.
In his talks, he comes across as a quiet, but good-ole-evangelical who has become disillusioned with the partisan and cynical way that religion and faith have been converted to partisanship. His personal style reminds me a bit of Richard Cizik, although quieter. While neither may have been raised in the South, they sound familiar to me. And they encourage me against my occasional cynicism, while exhibiting a greater openness to the questions of what Jesus would want of his followers here in the USA at the beginning of the new century.
Thanks, Matt.
Matt, I do hope that at least everyone who watched the Forum on Faith and Values Monday night will read the blog by Diana Butler Bass that you cite. Interesting perspective.
Would you send these two hyperlinks to Shelley and Josh and Warren, who are not on our blog list? Warren's email is warrencdavis@hotmail.com. I sent them to Jack.
